This struck me as the kind of confusing confused, where you end up thinking “wait, what did i just read?” and you want to be all offended, but you’re not sure what actually just happened. yum.

hopefully it strikes you this way toooooo.

The original script was more direct about writing a review of oliver stone’s new movie “W” which viddy didn’t even have to see to “rip that bitch apart”. And the rest of the words were structured differently. I’m not sure if the joke got lost. is there a joke? geez. i dunno. it’s late.

with the Carrot.Op officially over, i sat down to just tell a joke. i wrote down that maybe it should have the simple structure “someone insulted me. no way! yes way! and they were totally dead on.” but then i couldn’t think of anything that fit this structure. except nerdy video game references. so i shifted gears and thought “well, when i’m angry about something, other people tend to find my ranting funny. so what am i angry about?” i figured i was angry about the community video on xbox live today. This vid is a bizarre romp with some ugly women in pink breast cancer t-shirts, pretending to be beer swilling football jerk-guys. ie, they chug cans (of diet pepsi) and beltch and fart. and it drove me up the wall trying to figure out what the hell it had to do with breast cancer. were they attempted to reach the rednecks? or the frat boys? or their poor wives?

i dunno. i felt alienated. happy breast cancer month. so, wah-lah, here is my breast cancer month rant.

basically, i guess i’m just trying to figure out why breast cancer is such a weird topic for guys. cancer is deadly aweful. but breast sacks are deadly sexy. but the combination seems to rival abortion in the “guys just shouldn’t comment on it” department. hmm. the thought that the comic is posing the question to the audience (is this only offensive to women?) right in the middle of some weird shit about movie reviews, is funny to me. it’s also relevant to another big gripe of mine, which is that reviewers these days spend all their time working up crazy insulting analogies, rather than really offering any sort of insight or context for the movie they’re reviewing. they just struggle to be clever and insulting, so they can become a personality that the audience will recognize and come to adore. to hell with them.

um.

so i was trying to do the “dramatically shifting gears” form of comedy. meh?

… having written all this babble, the comic now strikes me as trying to do 3 separate things, and thus maybe failing hugely. i dunno. on another level that defies dissection, i still find it funny. so, thbbt. I just look at the final panel and hear this loud goofy “Sproing” sort of sound effect.

p.s. in other news. “Abrest” is not a word. it is a town in france apparently. but i just prefer how it looks, compared to the proper “Abreast”. Can’t put my finger on why. hmm…
