Uhhh, the idea here is that we’re catching up with the family after they’ve killed the hell out of the intruders. timmy is cleaning his face, and notices his dad.
gaping. at timmy’s violence? or dying from lack of life support tubing?
either way, he’s happy to be attended to.

annnd, here is the final strip in this three-arc.

the idea is that the puman is giving a little bit more than a blood transfusion. I should probably be drawing more of an intermediate device. i dunno. i kind of go back and forth on this. part of me feels you shouldn’t be focusing on the science. basically he’s giving her a blood transfusion. later on, well mention that her genetic makeup has been altered. you shouldn’t be like “what the fuck? when did that shit happen?” because now is one of the many times it has been happening.
hmm.
maybe i should worry more about conveying the so-called science. hmm.

anywho. the idea is that the doctor witnesses this, and goes further bonkers.
i had scripted it that he’d be holding a bone saw and drooling with a crazy grin.
but. i do have him speaking english in a bit. sooo. maybe he shouldn’t go to crazy?
maybe i shouldn’t be going off script. since i can’t seem to keep the story straight very well in my lame addled brain.

Finally got ahead of it again.

went back and polished up yesterday’s by the way. (click back button to check it. now with mostly polished art, and texties!). And I prepped tomorrow’s.

today we see puman finding the wife, in the darkened tunnels.
originally I scripted it that multiple pumen showed up. too hard to draw though. wouldn’t have been as clear that she was reuniting with same mutant guy.
soo. that can wait.
had also scripted it that final frame was to be a kind of frank frazetta hero shot, of naked woman clinging to muscled guy. Like hugging his leg while he posed.
but. initially attempts were too cheesy, sadly, so I went over to him just carrying her.

- for fun, i reversed these shots. just dumped a big black rectangle and started drawing with white. I used to love scratchboard work. and i enjoyed this. but. still feels like all my pen strokes look like shakey bird turds. keep forgetting that i need to try changing out the pen nib. and seeing what I can do to approximate more painterly effects. hmmf.

- i say “puman” like “human”. but. i worry readers are hearing it like “pooh man”. hmmf.

the story is that the wife regains consciousness and crawls out of her burning bedroom.

i like a lot of things about this drawing. except for Puman’s face. sigh. SIGH.

the dude is trying a rope from the bandage.

well, the last frame was meant to be “the rope is tight, with regular knots”. but i realized it was a little weird to avoid showing either of the dudes in all these frames. so i thought I should show that one-armed dude wasn’t dead or anything. he didn’t just bleed out when his old bandage was yanked off.
so i put him in the background. looking sad. or maybe in pain.
and then after I put it up, it occured to me that it kinda looks like he’s going to go strangle him with this rope he just made from his bandage. which is wrong – but kinda cool, soooo. done!

woof. not so late. but. still pretty late. too tired for commentary.

plus, a strong desire to rush back and waste more life playing L4D2’s newly released “The Passing” DLC. if only I had friends who wanted to play! ARGH! the internet strangers SUCK.

eh. anywho. here we see three things. three things presented in “three separate frames”.

namely:
1) a dude is thinking. this is what it means when you touch your face. or stroke your mask/hood.
2) a dude is touching another dude’s shoulder. it’s probably pretty healed by now, because one-armed dude doesn’t flinch. too busy looking through those binoculars.
3) whizapaH! the bandage is ripped off!

woof.
and so i guess it is Sunday. when you read this. though I write it Friday night.

The idea, story wise, is that the woman had her guard take her outside, away from her stuffy bedchamber, so she could taste the life in the air. but lightning struck and she fell down. it only now occurs to me how strong the bride of frankenstein imagery is here. ehhhh. uhhh. well. hmm.

originall this whole three strip sequence was the doctor having a rather boring conversation with this wife, in her bedchamber, about his cockroach experiment. but. I’ve been doing these “doctor-strips” without dialogue. sooo. rethinking the whole thing seemed wise.

here I’m really just having fun with the page layout. the giant mountain that splits the page. The machinery which crossed from dark to light, to symbolize it’s sudden surge in power (as it was struck by lightening). I’d kinda like to draw steam coming out of it. but .meh.

While it seems that these doctor-strips are being drawn with crayons, it does seem like good practice to me to focus on the light dark first, details later. ehh.

blah blah. sorry this isn’t a better rant. but. I’m heading out for the weekend! soo it’s hard to focus! laterrrr!

well, i’m prepping this friday night.
not sure what to say. Pretty much threw the script out the window for this sequence. it was all yammering about cockroach experiments and stuff. stuff that is all condensed into the third and final strip now (check back monday).

I really wanted to nail down this iconic image of the bandaged woman standing majestically atop the mountain complex. bandages and wisps of hair blowing in the wind/storm.

probably didn’t set this up enough. seems like this and the next strip just start casually dropping facts. they’re her guard. ehhh.. i’ll ruin the rest tomorrw (after the strip).

umm. yep. not much to say.
it is interesting to wonder to myself if these clouds are meant to be the exact same as the grey fog which the 2 dudes have been seeing in their neck of the wasteland. not that it is clear yet that this is one shared wasteland. sigh.
hopefully it will all make more sense to the reader than it appears to at the moment. once it’s all explained. sigh. sigh sigh sigh.
