“Charles” is the lead in Jonason Ho’s screenplay “Tycoons”. Which I’m currently adapting into a short comic book. He’s a wicked old rich bastard, who we first discover in his sky rise penthouse suite. And maybe someday we will see him licking his money while conjuring fire in his right hand (I just wanted to see him doing something other than being boring in a business suit).
I drew this around 1am this morning (while deciding I should focus on defining my style around Marc Silvestri and Steve Purcell, since they’re my favorite artists. I think you can see the Silvestri influence/ripped-off-style) (and I decided that I need to use more “extreme’ shadows and contrast in my work, to make things pop). Here are the original pencils:
I thought it’d be a good way to kick off this concept for a new strip, “Mind Molds,” that I’ve been kicking around for some time. Basically, I plan to post character designs and ideas on some days, and example comics (to show the character or idea in action) on other days. So check back tomorrow for a sample from the Tycoons comic.
