this is meant to be the “held breath” before the action sequence. stillness, with menace. environment established.
(sadly, i’m still figuring out how I want to draw these characters. haven’t settled into a groove. hmmmf.)
I had it scripted that there was a pole in the background in the last strip, so the doctor could grab it.
but when drawing this, i thought “hell. who cares. maybe he has just had a hidden pole weapon this whole time.”
part of me likes it when weapons just appear out of no where. it makes me think someone is going to be a competent fighter. (but it is a cheat? from a story telling persective?).
… plus part of me thinks they wouldn’t be throwing weapons down for him to use. even if he did so for them in the past. hmm.
