this is turning into an abstract crap fest.

well. anywho. obviously, for the third day in a row the art isn’t finished (wait… 6th day? more days than that?????). sorry.
i’m in the process of moving into new apartment. and somehow this is sapping all my energy. it is suprisingly exciting/interesting to explore YOUR OWN HOME. nom nom nom. (p.s. i love this house. LOVE IT. so far).

uhhh. story wise, the script called for the bandaged woman to be surrounded by her pumen. because when i wrote this, the idea was still that the puman were the ideal animal man hybrid. so, for some reason, there were many more of him wandering around (there was only one of every other animal man. many pumen) (and the cockroach dudes, well they’re something different)
… and i just haven’t been drawing it that way. I don’t think I’ve introduced any other pumen so far. sooo. the main pumen just died. it’d look weird to have others pop up. so i’m kinda doodling “other animal men that look kinda like puman”. kind of implying she goes for that? i guess? i dunno.

the script said that “she looks at her pumen, slyly, still treating them like bodyguards/lovers. She controls them. Then the other animals express alarm (they’re not that happy with her in charge). We end with wife and pumen looking around slightly alarmed at the various angry eyes in the dark- they may be in trouble here.

overall, this page is meant to seem like trouble for the atomic families, in the middle circle (which happened yesterday – remember, it’s 9 frames per page. so, 3 strips of 3). The family circuses are leaving their safe havens, only to find creepy shit unfolding in the caves. And this is how they merge with the greater story of the mad doctor. if you glance at this page, i’d like it to seem like random animals are amassing, and all out to eat the families.

but if you look closely, i’d like to show a silent narrative playing out. which is that the animal men are taking control of themselves, and rejecting human/perfected leadership. The doctor’s wife is really in much more trouble than the atomic families.

not sure any of this comes across. or what would need to be changed to help it come across. … but whatever. weee!
