Another ridiculously late entry. eep.
Well. … I don’t want to talk about it.
sleep time!
(doing some contract art for old storyboarding client. most of my time went into reconstructing their script file. and as soon as I was done, they sent me the file. soo. just feels like a big downer. do i charge them for this wasted time? hmmf.)
(and then i watched the richard donner cut of superman2. which wasn’t as great as I was hoping. hmmf.)
er.
In this script we see a dude reach in and tear the skeleton/corpse apart so he can get at that loot. them binoculars. weee. it’s meant to be kinda sad. maybe ominous. who was that corpse? awwww.
also, not very exciting I guess… But it seems to get away with it by virtue of involving a skull.
… was kinda sad to apply the sketch/photocopy effect to this. the lines were pretty good. fluid and simple. and this effect kinda shit on them and overcomplicated and muddled everything. hrumf.
anwyho. sleep time! so late. omigad.

This particular strip had me pondering… If watch man just wanted the binoculars, he could have just pulled the skull off and be done with it. But he chose to CRUSH the skull… Did he know him? Is he mad? At what? Seemed pretty simple to you, but had me wondering about motivations, etc.
that’s good! actually, it’s kinda great!
but, sadly. the idea was that they were kinda welded into the dirt/sand/ground/stuff, and he just kinda push/pulled on the skull for leverage while he pulled the binocs free. was trying to show that he’s not very respectful. also, the imagined the skull disintegrating because it was so old (or had been exposed to the elements for so long).
on the other hand, there is no wrong way to interpret.
he is indeed a little mad/confused at the one arm dude. And i do think they are seeing themselves in the corpse a bit (as it is supposed to have little scraps of the same sort of suit they are wearing lying around it.
