and soooo.
the dudes share an uncomfortable moment.
…
yep.
soooo. uh..
…
I wrote a lengthy rant about copyright law, here, earlier today. So there’s a bunch of probably more interesting and “relevant” ranting in there.
Not that it is particularly relevant to this strip or storyline… Just on my mind.
…
Not sure what I would do if BloodSugar bits showed up on someone’s lunchbox or greeting cards without my approval. Not sure that’s a copyright issue. but. interesting things to worry about. endlessly. heh. HEHE. HEHAHEAHEHAAAA.
SEE WHAT I DID THERE? I tied that shit in. like a boss.
anywho.
to be a bit on the nose:
The original idea here was just that watch-dude pats cage-dude on the back. But this hurts cage dude, and watch dude backs away implying that he’s sorry.
what a thrilling idea, right?
Well. I hoped it would show their relationship changing slightly. but. bleh. me and my overthinking.
I’ve been doodling quick 1 inch square (roughly) layouts (i printed all the scripts in a spreadsheet format, with large cells so i could easily doodle ideas whenever i was inspired. I carry this script around with me all the time now. Often jotting down layouts while on the bus.
Anywho. At some point here it occurred to me that they were just going to be suddenly carrying the cage again (in an upcoming strip). So how did they get it out of the ground after their dramatic exhumation?
So to fix this potential slip up, I decided to explicitly insert the cage into this particular strip.
The note/script for this first frame actually reads “dude holds his ruined arm, glum, as other dude reaches out to pat him on the back”. So this was tweaked to have crate dude reaching out for his crate. Which he drops in frame two. So it can now reappear later, whenever necessary, and not seem sudden. I WIN.
WOO HOO! THE OVERTHINKINATING!
… in other news (of underthinkinating i guess), it just now occurs to me that I have neglected to include any sort of city skyline. hmmm. will it really be missed? Will people be like “WHERE ARE THEY IN RELATION TO THAT CITY!?!?!?!?!AHHHH!!!!”
…
feh. I’ll fix this tomorrow, if ever…. thbbbt. It’s late.
- If this strip strikes you as completely pointless ponder this: it implies secrets hidden beneath the suits. To me this makes it one of the better strips in this story. Even if it’s pretty clear it’s just painful problems beneath the suit. …
- Maybe I should put some hints of blood dripping out of the breathing holes in the final frame. hmmm. or perhaps spattered inside the eye shield. hmm.
