Weeooo! new art. Better late than never.
Hopefully the recently discovered and resolved art-mixup which held over yesterday’s comic for near 48 hours has EASED THE PAIN. of waiting. for this new weird comic.
more likely: the world never even noticed.
ANywho.
We are still here in the family storyline, but now : in the back bedroom.
Hanging with the kids.
Hopefully establishing that they like each other, and making you, the reader, feel like you know them better. hmm.
Not sure if it’s clear, but the idea is that the girl is speaking the final line. I’m sorely tempted to start doing “dialog balloon pointers”, which just point from the speaking mouth to the outside of the window. Like an inverted dialog bubble. picture pacman, instead of the current perfect circle.
hmm.
Or maybe I’ll just go tweak the art here, before anyone notices… make it so Timmy’s mouth seems less open, and maybe veronica’s face is a little more revealed. hmm.
(edit: done)
i drew her fingernails as “chewed” in the first panel. Really like the first panel a lot. The whole idea of sneaking a camera angle into her private place, when she’s resting her head in between her knees.
Plus I went in and gave her a bit of a feline snarl. Tried some experiments with big blobs of black on her face, but they didn’t work out. Still like the art though. I was suprised how just a subtle variation on the “knee joint line” turned her legs from big white blobs to being rather clearly knees. magic! ART IS MAGIC.
p.s. the “story” idea here is that he’s not sure about this whole pregnancy science, because he’s a little kid. And it lightens her dark mood. Originally I had much more text, and was really hoping to get the audience wondering if there might be alternate explanations. Plus lots of talk about possible sickness seemed to suggest something of “the kind of life” they were living in this strange housing space. but. meh. I’m fine with simplifyiing it down to him just being confused and her thinking it is kind of funny.
