Originally, panel two was just “Timmy!” … Weooo Timmy!
Just before uploading, I realized this has south park connotations “TIMMAY!” (the lumpy headed simpleton kid)… so I thought the dad might show some schoolin’ and refer to him more elegantly as Timothy. …
But he’s a kid, so add Captain! Cap’n. Cap’n Timothy, to give a little nod to timothy’s speech impediment? TOO MUCH FOCUSING ON TRIVIAL DETAILS?!??!?! … maybe. maybeLIEVEIT!
…
I struggled with the final frame. I’m rewriting these old strips slightly. Didn’t want to say “you’re mom’s been worried” (as i did last year). Also, I hoped to emphasize the kind of “strained” relationship mom has to little timmy. and his chompers. but. The idea that i’m conveying subtle things here is probably extreme lunacy.
whatev.
at this point, i’m still trying to maintain a wholesomeness to the family. Simple strips with minimum ominous-nous(nous).
Strange detail: Last year I was using “Cambria” as the font for the dialogue in these “Family scenes.” I no longer have that font. And although I crave max readability, I am tired of Arial and Verdana. Soooo. I went with Palatino Linotype. I don’t know why I mention this. Except… for some reason I actually made this small choice, and I don’t know why. Font snobbery!
