Again, polishing the art from last year. Though last year all she said was “you haven’t touched your taters.” This was said in the middle frame, so that the first frame established her face and happy mood, and the final frame established his reaction and less happy mood. It was more arty? maybe just for me?
So, although i do want a certain kind of depressing tone here, implying that he hates the food isn’t the right way to do it. Rather than be minimalistic in the dialog – it should start handing out more hints. So he mentions that he’s actually been pretty much here at the table all day. While giving her sort of opaque look. Hopefully this reads as “and you know this. why would you ask about my day?”. … though maybe it implies the she would know this if she was home all day. that would be off track, but i don’t think it would hurt. Either way people should wonder why a man would sit at a table all day. eh?
Also, i’m trying for this certain kind of comic tone here… Guess I’ll save that rant for another strip.
…
hmm. I’m omitting something (kind of trivial). Last year there was a completely different strip as 1098. This one you’re looking at was 1097. In the missing strip, she noted that she thought she’d seen Wendy elsewhere in the … place they’re at, and he asked again about the food. Then we saw her hands reaching for a plate. I think I wrote that to try and combat the idea of cannibalism. Though maybe I just ineptly reinforced it. Anywho. When I sit back and say “damnitall, there is no cannibalism” it just doesn’t seem like a necessary strip. … heh. soo…
well, I’m kinda lying about why 1098 went missing. In all honesty, I somehow screwed up when creating my “final master script” for all these strips – and I didn’t include last years 1098. sooo. whooops!
Still, fuck that lost strip. who needs it. it was crap! and smelled like turnip jello! and it beat children! AHHH!
