This is meant to be another “milk the hell out of one moment”. We see one dude. We see something in the distance. We see the second dude.
The idea here is that thar’s some kinda city-like thang out thar. out them tar ways. some ways off. yessum.
Like the final shot in The Fellowship of the Ring, I wanted to say “this journey has a ways yet to go.” Trying to play a “drama card” so that people could get their hopes up and start investing in the story. might be a little late to play this card… yeah? hmm. but here it is? TAKE IT!?
… When I first drew this strip, last year, I made the mistake of drawing some mountains off in the distance. Well, the first strip had some mountains. I really wasn’t trying to say that they were heading towards those mountains. In fact this kind of RUINED EVERYTHING. So here I chose something else from the longterm story plan, which is a big dilapidated skyscraper city. Look for it show up again laterrrrrrr.
Also, I don’t know if it works, but the idea is that between here and there, are some storm clouds. Which we’ll see before we see the city. make sense? hmm. (maybe not. People probably expect the weather to change. hmm. HMM! how to better emphasize this? hmm. )
