STRIPS STRIPPED: Blood/Sugar 2016

INsights: this is another attempt at self evident truth. with less clarity. or truth.

I genuinely AM excited about the upcoming Friday the 13th remake. because i thought Nispel’s remake of the Texas Chainsaw was brilliant. gorgeous and terrifying. with great fx and great actors. wow. So if they brought him back to remake another old shitty horror movie : fine by me.

i think there is something wrong with anyone who claims Friday the 13th is somehow too much of a treasure to be reinvented. morons! yes? maybe? hmm.

Visually, i was going to just leave these exactly the same as the last strip. the layout works. but then i thought Viddy should be shrinking in size, until we drop to his level in the last frame and see Disky as huge. not sure this works. hmm. oh well. trivial fail.

It’s meant to be a play on the word “hobbit”. It’s meant to be a unique dis on the film geeks. (I’d just used this light ribbing in an email to a friend).

originally, it was Viddy saying “except : no” in the third panel. but somehow Disky yelling “YOW!” seemed funnier . at the time. not so much now that i’m typing this. HMMMM. and now I see that he’s actually yelling “YUM!”. heh. hmm.

 i guess it works. that viddy is becoming less and less powerful/vocal, and Disky is ambiguously becoming extremely stupid and huge. hmm.

… it seems that the final panel would work better with no dialogue. hmm. and yet that dialogue was the whole point… … I am going to delete it. it was “VIDDY, YOU ARE A SNOBBIT!”. oh well. (it just felt like too much. like the joke had played)

… p.s. the more time i spend working in my new job, the harder it is to justify all my private enjoyments of foul language. everything vulgar is starting to feel quite unneccessary.y.
