INsights: not much to say here. the end.
This was what was originally written (except with an intension to show the hostages in the final frame, looking afraid.
since i kinda copped out on the detailed artwork to explain hostages, and that this was all a bank robbery in general, it didn’t seem super necessary for a big detailed climax. I stressed out the last couple days, thinking i should put in many hours to make a big finale shot that explained every installment so far. but. meh. i supposed i copped out again.
anywho. the original intended joke here was, i suppose, to riff on Scream. they stick each other to make it look like they’re victims. but funny, ebcause it’s needles instead of knives. and maybe funny that they decide to kill all the hostages after they’ve stuck each other, and thus won’t be able to kill anything. (as if they’d killed each other). as if they’d killed each other you see, and as they lay dying they agreed that it was now time to kill everyone else. leaving it up to the audience to wonder if they were serious, or could pull it off.
hmmf. well, perhaps i should note that i was going to draw this out as one large panel, that seemed to have lines drawn across it by elements of the environment, to suggest the standard 4 frames. that seemed like an epic ending gimmick. (the first was to be part of a security monitor. the second a counter top. the third was to be a dangling flourescent bulb ficture. V and D would be together on the monitor-1st panel-, but V was on left of counter -2nd panel- and D was to the right of the counter -3rd panel-, and the final panel was just going to be the faces of horrified hostages). oh well.
i added in “Old School!!!” at the last minute. it was just silent, to focus on the “schlock” sound. but since the strip wasn’t striking me as very funny, i thought it humorous to add such a declaration, after agreeing to a weird drug overdose death pact. meh.
meh. well. anywho. this is the end of the first attempt at an abstract comedy sequence. In retrospect, it think i should have drawn them all up back when i first wrote down the scripts. I either wasn’t sure how to do some of them, or lost the motivation to make some of them detailed. almost everyone was compromised due to the deadline. hmmf.
it also stands out that almost none of these would stand on it’s own. i think. hmm.
but, it was fun for me. the next one will sure be better. weee!
