INsights: I’ve always wanted to weigh in on the global carbon crisis!
what am i saying.
it’s politics and i hate politics. but here it is. Last night I had dinner with my folks, and thought it hilarious that my dad apologized for making small talk about the weather with our waitress. due to politics. so i thought i had to make a strip about it. but the strip i wrote up was way too long and convoluted. soooooo. here’s the first part. i’m not sure it’s funny.
I’m a big skeptic. but people who aren’t skeptical tend to get all hot and bothered when i suggest there’s a debate. so i tried to avoid going down that road (and instantly alienating my few friends who read the strip). I thought we could acheive common ground by focusing on the statement that we’d all like the debate to be settled (so we could back to our local lives). yes?
Well. the idea here is to simply contrast science beliefs with religious beliefs. yay jesus. I am a jesus skeptic too. ummm. i’m probably losing points fast with all sides of the fence(s).
in way this all seems so political that i can’t believe i actually went there. ugh. i am suddenly deeply embarassed and worried. hmm.
i suppose there’s also just a simple idea being shared here: that i think it would great if jesus came down from heaven, and settled the global warming debate scientifically. seems like that would be totally ironicalllll.
Art wise, i did the usual tweaking. but it no longer seems like enough. i need to start trying different angles. and clothing. and hats. i thought it would be interesting to mess with the pacing by having one side (of the two standard talking heads) phase out, while the other phased in. but. no, it probably isn’t that interesting. Probably would have been better to group chunks of the giant sentence into each of the first three panels. but. i already did that. and it makes me want to have the speaking character present. hmm. HMMM.
welllll. there it is. good chance two more strips will pop up covering similar ground. hmm.
