Vitreous Humor – Monday – A Fifth

INsights : I watched Funny Games. While it has some 4th wall breaking tomfoolery, it struck me as tired and pretentious. But how can this be! it’s so damned hip to go all ferris bueller and talk to the audience! Sure FunnyGames was made in 1997. Sure, i guess, eh, ancient greek plays did this. um. i am probably way out of my depth.

Anywho. Like all snobby artists, I sat around smoking myself to death today and wondered how one could go further. I’m not sure you can. so, humor? hmm.

Eh. Word wise, i snuck/stuck the word “break” into each panel. i don’t know why. I hope the last two panels, where Disky is addressing your mom, are weirdly ambiguous. but i’m not sure. I’m not sure if there’s a statement here about how she’ll never read it, and you shouldn’t be reading it. Or what it means. but. i hope there’s a statement there. hmm. Toyed around with the final frame’s wording a lot. nothing much to report of interest there though. I was trying to think up something ambiguously sexual about your mom, that suggested an overheard conversation. hmm.

Art wise, illustrator gave me a damned headache by breaking yet again and refusing to save. so i restarted and tried again. I kinda dig how much easier it is to tweak facial features. but i probably went too far. or maybe it’s just a little too… random? hmm. I think it makes the strip more fun, after you’ve read it. you can go back and stare at the tiny trivial facial details. But while reading it, it doesn’t add much. Hopefully this will change with practice. might have gone a little to far into weird town with panel 3. hmm. if you’re agreeing with me on this, you can suck a. lemon.

Not much else to report. Um, don’t see Funny Games (unless you’re a sucker for hardcore torture gore movies). And uh, if you hate this strip, you can go ahead and blame that movie. S’cool with me.
