INsights: I love Don Cheadle’s name. I just love saying it.Originally this started out as three punchlines to another strip, which wasn’t working. Something about them dating and accusing each other of cheating in the eyes of the viewer. The script just had three optional punchlines (the third was “you cheated Don Cheadle”).
Anywho, once again I found myself thinking “ahh! i need to make a strip quick! Which script requires the least amount of art!” Which has become a problem. I’m out of simple-talking strips. Which is weird, because they seem to work the best. Or maybe my subconcious is at war with my art skill/fears. hmm. I feel the strong need to write new scripts so I can further put off doing serious art. ugh. weep.
Anywho. I now love saying “I cheadled.” It strikes me as the greatest punchline of all time. I want to have it’s retarded children. That’s how much i love it. fear me.
Art wise the only new thing is really Viddy’s pupil’s being downcast in the second frame. And the background, I guess, which I tinkered with endlessly. Ultimately i just mixed 4 different failures, then scaled the level of desaturation so the final frame would pop.
I’m at a crossroads, where I’ve been making strips at 300dpi for a while, but the masters i keep going back to (and reusing with slight tweaks. All the elements of each character’s experessions are on different layers, in different folder/layers in photoshop, for easy tweaking) are at 150 dpi. soooo, whenever I merge these masters and paste into current strip file, i have to scale them up. sooo. really, i’m cheating and they wouldn’t look as good as the should if printed. But the transition to vector art feels like the final nail in the idea of art. I need to schedule a day to just force the transition to proper high res art masters. But the prospect of going back and updating all the existing strips is daunting. hmm.
In related postponement angst, I’ve been putting off the simple task of going back and commenting on older scripts. hmm. Suppose i’ll start sneaking this in, and just make a note when the task is completed. it is similarly hard to schedule a time to write up old insights.
blah blah.
In random news, i’m really excited about making a corporate button up shirt with a checkerboard patter. except every square is a frame from one of the vitreous strips. It would look so tacky! the kind of multicolor lifesaver gaudiness that no one would ever wear. and it’d be a bitch to make. and it’d cost a lot. hmm. grr.
