Um, I called this one speed racer because i’d just seen the movie (and LOVED it), and realized i’d neglected to make a strip for the day. So i set out to make the fastest strip EVARRRR.
There was actually a script that just went “eh?” “meh” “heh” “bleh”. or something. I thought I could get away with pretending there was meaning by putting in a random word at the end. At 11:59, it seemed that grapes were reliably humorous. hmm. The strip took less than 5 minutes to make, from realization that i’d forgotton to final strip posted on the website. wee! HUGE SUCCESS! no?
Anywho. basically this strip took a big shit on the audience, but tried to hide behind being nonsensical. I really wanted to go back and tweak it to tie into the speed racer movie somehow. Like choosing a random noun from the movie (“monkey” for example. or “Chi Chi”. or “throttle”). But it quickly felt as though i should leave it alone, as a record of my greatest failure with the semiweekly strip chain, so far.
