Early comic delivery!
Heading off tonight for a weekend in the San Fran area. Mostly for the Maker Faire (http://makerfaire.com/ ) Will see Abney Park on Saturday night (http://www.abneypark.com/ ) . May hit the Mishap Prom (art and music) on Friday night (http://www.crapcore.com/mishap-news.html ). The girlfriend is so excited! Hooray for San Fran Cisco! (wait …an 11 hour drive?)
I have such a headache. but am also mildly excited. Except for the part that involves Bay Area traffic. echtch.
INsights: was talking with some local friends last night about the indie and web comics scene. How both seem to be totally malfunctioning industries, where the product is just a brochure for some other products that the creator isn’t really in the business of creating.
It seemed that everyone we know in this space is all struggly to reinvent the means of production (indie comics creators learning to screen print, make buttons, make magnets), and or strugglying-ying to make genre entertainment that adds just a dash of something new. But no one we know has even made that “great Art” that we all feel like dying to promote. We just keep starting over. And then I noted that i’m struggling all to hell just to grasp that “intangible weird funny” with this strip.
I guess I should just say : this strip is a big “fuck you” to artists everywhere.
