INsights:
Another accidentally “ok” strip that came out of late night / early morning brain states. I’d written a fairly nonsensical rhyming puzzle a couple days before, which just didn’t seem funny when I sat down to make something happen in Photoshop.

I’d been talking to people about what should become of the once-lively http://www.rewindvideo.com/ website, and everyone kept bringing up that there’s no need for an indie video making support group / resource any more, thanks to youtube. Which strikes me as really sad, because I had many great times with the Rewind crowd (circa 2001-2003).

It also pissed me off that many filmmakers (notably, george lucas, i believe) had once claimed that digital filmmaking was going to change the industry, because unknowns would start making masterpieces in their garages (arguable example: The Blair Witch Project). What the hell happened? Ok, YouTube made everyone famous for 15 seconds, and further flooded the limited talent pool to impossible obscurity. But why aren’t the few touched-by-god video makers I know cranking out masterpieces? ohh, it’s that other damned video delivery revolution.

This is the only strip on which I’ve received the feedback “Hey, that’s actually funny! you made a punchline!” Which to my sensitive ears sounds more like “Hey, you’re alllllmost doing something thousands of others do every day!” Which hurts pretty bad. But I guess I’ll try more often, if people dig. Can’t say i really understand it (… should I not say that?). Shrugs.
