INsights:I’m kinda reaching into the wayback machine here (and likely for all INsights on stripes posted before this one), because I didn’t jot down insights at the time of posting. Officially working my way backwards from stardate June 27, 2008. (and i doubt i’ll make it all the way back to the beginning in one sitting, so previous strips will probably have comments from even further in the future. my god).

The idea here was that I despise it when I throw out a statement like “you know what I love/hate” and someone takes a stab at laying it out before i say it. I think i’d seen an example of this in some movie the day i wrote this strip.

Anywho. the idea is that Viddy has no problem reading Disky’s thoughts, because they’re just text floating in the air. While this is a common device for the audience, in the Vitreous universe, any character can read them as well. wee. The final frame was meant to show how people don’t get frustrated the apparant psychic power, they get frustrated with something else. In this case, i thought it funniest to attack people for being able to see. what a silly thing to get angry about. meh? I specifically chose to put “…read! Mind …” in the main text block, so it would suggest mind reading without directly saying it. Disky isn’t acknowleding mind reading. He’s acknowledging the fact that this thoughts are printed for anyone to read. And the final frame is setup so the tail of the dialogue bubble looks like the shards of his shattering brow. To me, the pure triangles imply the words came out before the text bubble could even form and float.

This strip was clearly overthought.
