INsights: I think i just wanted to try repetition out for the first time in this strip. I picture that old cartoon with a bouncy skinny little dog and his big scary bulldog friend who rarely speaks. The final frame probably fails to convey the fact that Disky (originally named Seedy. I later changed the round headed guy’s name to Disky because it seemed less negative, more disco, and more directly related to the CD he has for a head) spoke first, with his insult, and Viddy immediately conceded.
Conceptually, I was thinking about how most of the Fast Forward Forum posters probably needed to get out and see more of the world (before opining), and I was thinking that eventually i wanted them to get out of this flat white background and have some adventures. foreshadowing. attempt.
Visually, i just like how they’re old “speaking mouths” were basically a bouncy triangle. I think I thought it looked like a read-arm on any standard computer hard drive. I’m not sure why i thought this relevant for a living VCR tape or CD. Blame it on gut feelings, and rushed art. Fixed later. Charming in retrospect.
